Dan Gold: Volunteer Advisor for Hudson Job Search
Hudson Job Search is honored to introduce Dan Gold as one of our most recent Advisors. Our Advisors are the lifeblood of our organization - volunteering their time and expertise to work one-on-one with job seekers through their job search process.
Professional Background: Dan Gold
Dan Gold's career spans over 30 years, with experience leading HR organizations for high-growth companies in a diverse set of industries. He has served in both in-house HR leadership roles and as a trusted third-party consultant to organizations ranging from Fortune 500s to privately held businesses. He has also held operations roles with full P&L responsibility and led change management for ERP transformations.
How did you first hear about Hudson Job Search, and what inspired you to become an HJS Advisor?
Dan first connected with Hudson Job Search as a client in 2016 and again more recently. The support he received during his own job search left a lasting impression. When invited to join the organization as an advisor, he was honored to accept. “I’m interested in paying it forward,” Dan shared, “and using both my HR background and my experience as a client to help others going through a job search.”
How long have you been an Advisor, and what do you enjoy most about helping job seekers?
While Dan is just beginning his role as an advisor, he’s looking forward to making a meaningful impact. He’s excited to offer encouragement and practical guidance to job seekers, knowing firsthand how valuable that support can be.
What would you say to someone who is considering becoming an HJS Advisor?
Dan believes that the opportunity to help others can be just as rewarding for the advisor as it is for the job seeker. “It’s a two-way street,” he says, “and it feels good to give back.”
How did you learn to advise job seekers?
Through his own job search experiences, Dan learned patience and gratitude. “No one loves being in a job search,” he said, “but going through it helped me become more understanding—both with the process and with myself.” That understanding now helps him connect more deeply with others in transition.
If Hudson Job Search had unlimited resources, what service would you love to see the organization offer in the future?
Dan would love to see more frequent opportunities for networking, group coaching, and personalized attention for job seekers. “Those extra touchpoints can really make a difference,” he noted.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their job search or recently unemployed?
“Stay the course,” Dan advises. “Find joy and reward in the little wins. Don’t beat yourself up.”
Anything else you’d like to add?
Dan ended by sharing his appreciation for the leadership at HJS: “I really appreciate all the work that Mike and Kim put into the meetings and organizing the group. They are awesome!”
