During this time of concern for everyone’s health due to COVID-19, safety is our number one priority.
Since we cannot have public meetings we will be having ZOOM Meetings with the first one being Monday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Zoom virtual meetings are quickly becoming the new normal for group get-togethers for both social and business reasons. But for job seekers, learning this technology for networking and interviewing could be the difference in getting a job or not. Jim Ahern, Director of Hudson Job Search, will briefly introduce the session with some tips on elevator speeches and utilizing Zoom for networking.
The rest of the meeting will utilize one of the Zoom functions of setting up break-out rooms of 3-4 job seekers and remixing new groups about every 8-10 minutes.
The goals of these break-out sessions are three-fold: 1) Practicing your elevator speech, 2) treating the breakout session as a REAL opportunity to give or get networking help from other job seekers, and 3) giving feedback to each other on their elevator speech as well as their Zoom “presence” (eg: talking to the video lens, lighting, etc).
Please load the Zoom app to your device sometime before you join the meeting. Also, try to connect 10 minutes before the 7:30 p.m. start time. When you are asked to put in your name, please enter the name that you use on LinkedIn.
If you have never attended a HJS meeting please reach out to sign-up and get the Zoom meeting link by 12:00 Noon on April 27: email@example.com
We understand that this is an unsettling time and our March 16, 2020 speaker Marvin Montgomery’s presentation on “Power of Attitude in Your Job Search” would be uplifting not just for your job search, but for the current situation. In response to cancelling the meeting, Marvin is making a YouTube video with a portion of his presentation. This is a shortened version of Marvin’s presentation and we hope it gives you some great ideas on how to stay positive during this time of transition for you. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/efj5ERht0s0
We’ve also included Marvin’s website as well as another video presentation that he did for Grow Your Business Cleveland. This other presentation deals with Active Listening, which can be helpful in an interview. Check it out!
We encourage you to check out our website for Christine Meeker Lange’s blogs about our recent meetings that can be helpful in your search.
We will be sharing information on how to continue your job search during this time as we go forward.
