Job Description: Hudson Job Search Volunteer Advisor

Hudson Job Search is a voluntary outplacement organization. It is not an employment agency. Instead, it is a non-profit group that uses proven processes to provide job seekers the skills they need to obtain employment in today’s job market.  The key to this effort is our advisors that provide support to unemployed clients seeking job search assistance.

Advisors are trained in our process of providing job seeker assistance in the following areas: job research, resumes, marketing plans, networking, interviewing, negotiating offers, and follow-up steps after landing a new position.

Advisors also have additional resources that are available to them to assist their assigned job seekers.  These include Monday Night Meetings, events held twice a month with experts to speak on various job search processes.  Both advisors and their job seekers are encouraged to attend.

Additionally, there is an Advisor Meeting held once a month. Here advisors advocate for their job seekers and seek help from other advisors to assist their job seekers.

Throughout the job search process, advisors generally meet with their job seekers weekly or biweekly for progress reviews, coping with challenges, and providing moral support. You don’t need an HR or recruiting background to be an advisor. We welcome all interested in helping those searching for their first job or have recently found themselves unemployed.
