For most Job Seekers, the phone interview is the first contact with a prospective employer. Whether it’s called a phone screen, a phone interview, or a phone screen interview, it can be an early “knock out step” for the employer’s job filling process. These are typically short, 10 – 30 minute “phone screens” to determine if you’ll make it to the interview process. Preparation for a phone screen interview can be as critical for a job seeker as the face-to-face interview, and in many cases, determines if a candidate will even get a face-to-face interview. How you prepare for (or lack of) and respond during the phone interview can easily end your opportunity for securing a particular job you are seeking.
